INJECTION MOULDING SETTER/ SUPERVISOR
We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Injection Moulding Supervisor to lead a small team of 3 people working on shifts but dedicated mould. This is a hands-on supervisory role with a strong emphasis on polypropylene processing and day-to day oversight of five Boy injection moulding machines (ranging from 60 to 110 tonnes).
The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in polypropylene moulding, along with the leadership capability to guide a small team and ensure consistent production quality and machine efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the daily operation of five Boy injection moulding machines (60–110 tonnes), focusing on polypropylene moulding processes.
* Supervise and train operators in machine setup, optimisation, and adjustments specific to polypropylene behaviour and flow characteristics.
* Lead and perform efficient tooling changes, ensuring minimal downtime and alignment with production schedules.
* Conduct and manage regular machine maintenance, including cleaning, lubrication, and inspection, with a proactive approach to avoiding mechanical faults.
* Monitor production output and product quality, identifying issues related to polypropylene material flow, shrinkage, or warping, and implementing corrective actions promptly.
* Perform in-process quality checks and ensure all moulded components meet tight tolerances and customer specifications.
* Promote a culture of safety and cleanliness, ensuring all safety procedures are followed and the working environment is well-organised.
* Collaborate with other production departments and leadership to meet targets, optimise workflows, and improve efficiency.
* Accurately record production data, downtime, maintenance, and quality metrics to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a supervisory or senior setter role within an injection moulding environment, specifically working with polypropylene materials.
* Strong understanding of polypropylene properties, moulding temperatures, and potential quality issues related to the material.
* Demonstrable ability to troubleshoot machine and process issues effectively.
* Confident in leading a small team, training less experienced operators, and maintaining a high-performance culture.
* Mechanically minded, with strong hands-on maintenance and setup skills.
* High attention to detail and commitment to delivering consistent product quality.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with other departments.
Working predominantly on days with the odd shift coverage.
Salary circa £35k with some overtime available and benefits
