What You'll Do As an Assistant Accountant, you'll support a portfolio of single-person companies, delivering comprehensive accounting services with a focus on accuracy and client care. Your day-to-day role will include proactive client communication, preparation of statutory accounts, and ensuring compliance with key HMRC deadlines - all while helping clients understand their business finances in simple, practical terms. Build trusted relationships with clients through professional, informative conversations, guiding them on tax, expenses, dividends, and salaries. Prepare accurate statutory accounts and ensure all financial documents are completed and submitted within agreed deadlines. Calculate VAT and PAYE liabilities and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations. Hold annual review meetings with clients to discuss performance, financial position, and tailored tax planning advice. Support contractors in using online accounting portals confidently and effectively. Highlight and communicate upcoming VAT, PAYE, and Corporation Tax deadlines clearly, ensuring clients remain compliant. Identify opportunities to improve systems and processes, contributing to better efficiency and client experience.
