About the role
Join our UKCS - Balfour Beatty Living Places team as a Street Lighting installation and maintenance operative. Contribute to meaningful projects that improve communities and infrastructure.
What you'll be doing
1. Maintain, erect, and remove street lighting, signs, and related equipment, paying careful attention to buried services and overhead cables.
2. Excavate and reinstate coated and other surface materials.
3. Drive vehicles and operate ancillary plant (Hoists or Lorry loaders); perform routine vehicle and plant checks.
4. Transport goods, equipment, and personnel to and from sites.
5. Assist in loading and unloading vehicles using mechanical aids where necessary.
6. Assist with traffic management measures.
7. Participate in out-of-hours repairs of lighting and sign installations when required.
8. Perform heavy physical efforts such as standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying, sometimes in awkward positions.

* Good communication skills.
* Ability to safely and efficiently use materials.
* Ability to follow work instructions from Assistant Managers.
* Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
* Resilient attitude.
Technical Competences:
Essential:
* GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English.
* Good verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in IT skills.
* Keen to attend training as required.
* Full UK driving license for vehicles over 3.5t.
Desirable:
* Street Lighting experience.
* ECS with HEA Portfolio.
* NRSWA Operative.
* 302.1 or 302.2 qualifications.
* G39/1 210 Working near DNO.
* HIAB Slinger/Signaller.
