Devon Bay Solutions provides property repair, home emergency and insurance-related services across the UK. We also manage a variety of claims and legal protection arrangements including Legal Expenses, Mediation, First Notification of Loss, and Vehicle Assistance.
We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Legal Specialist to join our growing Bristol team. This role would suit someone with experience in legal claims handling, legal expenses, or insurance legal support who thrives in a professional and collaborative environment.
The Role
As a Legal Specialist, you'll manage a range of legal expenses claims and provide support to customers, solicitors, and insurers throughout the process. You'll ensure all claims are handled accurately, efficiently and in line with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess new legal expenses and liability claims, gathering all necessary documentation.
* Liaise with policyholders, solicitors, and third parties to progress claims and ensure timely outcomes.
* Review case information, identify next steps, and make clear, evidence-based decisions.
* Ensure all correspondence and case notes are recorded accurately in the claims management system.
* Handle incoming calls and emails in a professional and supportive manner.
* Provide updates and guidance to customers on claim progress and policy coverage.
* Escalate complex or high-value cases where appropriate.
* Adhere to FCA principles, data protection regulations, and internal service standards.
Skills and Experience
* Experience in legal expenses, claims handling, or insurance law preferred.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation.
* Able to interpret policy wording and make fair, informed decisions.
* Confident managing a varied caseload and prioritising work effectively.
* Sound understanding of the legal process and customer service best practice.
* Proficient in using multiple computer systems and case management software.
* Positive, professional, and empathetic approach when dealing with customers and stakeholders.
Working Hours
* Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm
* No weekends or late shifts
* Hybrid working available – typically 3 days in the office, 2 from home
