Job Title: Equity Derivative Middle Office Analyst (Controls Analyst)
Location: Canary Wharf, London (Hybrid – 2 days in office, Mon & Thurs anchor days)
Contract: 6-Month
Overall Purpose of the Role
Join Barclays as an Equity Derivative Middle Office Analyst, supporting the EMEA Equity Derivatives Middle Office team. You’ll play a key role in front-to-back reconciliations and controls for the Barclays Investment Managers (BIM) desk, with exposure to a broad range of products including Bonds, Equities, and FX. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with strong controls and reconciliation experience within a financial institution.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily reconciliations across cash and position holdings
Conduct FOBO, FOFO, inter-entity and book transfer reconciliations
Analyse discrepancies between internal systems and external files
Support controls processes for both flow and exotic products
Assist in ensuring accurate and timely Bloomberg-related processes as part of team rota
Identify risks and escalate in line with SLA protocols (e.g., 1 day to AVP, 3 days to VP)
Work closely with internal stakeholders to resolve reconciliation issues and suggest process improvements
Apply Excel-based solutions (including VLOOKUP) to support reconciliation and reporting tasks
Key Skills & Experience
Strong background in controls and reconciliations within a financial institution
Experience with financial products such as OTC vanilla options, swaps, and ideally exotics
Clear understanding of front office vs back office operations
Solid analytical and problem-solving mindset with a solutions-driven approach
Comfortable working with large datasets; proficient in Excel (VLOOKUP mandatory)
Capable of escalating appropriately and knowing when to ask questions
Experience working with multi-product desks is advantageous
