Senior Algorithm Engineer
An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Algorithm Engineer to join a leading engineering organisation working on highly advanced and complex systems. This is a strategic, technically focused role offering the chance to shape the development of next-generation guidance, control, and navigation solutions without line management responsibilities.
Location: Bristol
Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience
Working Model: Fully onsite, 5 days per week
The Role:
• Develop and refine advanced algorithms within guidance, control, and navigation systems
• Contribute at both detailed design level and higher-level system architecture
• Influence the direction of design, analysis, and testing across complex engineering programmes
• Work across a range of technologies including sensors, propulsion systems, and real-time architectures
• Support activities across the full lifecycle, from early concept through to development and testing phases
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across different programmes and technical areas
• Analyse complex system behaviour and ensure robust, high-performance solutions
Essential Requirements:
• Strong theoretical knowledge and practical experience in guidance, control, and navigation systems
• Proven experience in algorithm development, system analysis, and real-time implementation
• Ability to define and structure complex engineering problems into clear requirements and objectives
• Experience managing complexity across interconnected systems
• Strong modelling and simulation experience using tools such as MATLAB and Simulink
• Ability to verify complex models and systems against theoretical principles
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability across both physical and simulated environments
Desirable Experience:
• Background in aerospace or defence environments
• Experience in flight control or control systems applications
