We're on a journey to build a workforce reflective of our Borough.
We are committed to fostering diverse teams where everybody can bring their authentic selves to work and feel that they belong. If you want to work for a Council where everybody is encouraged to meet their full potential and make a difference in our neighbourhoods, we would love to hear from you!
Your role
As a Senior Carer, you will support the Establishment Manager in the development and delivery of high-quality day opportunities for people with complex needs. You will be a role model for support workers, supporting the delivery of personalised support that maximises outcomes and quality of life.
You will be responsible for leading the team in the delivery of the transition offer for young people across Inclusive Futures, working across two sites.
You will develop strong and positive relationships with families and carers and work effectively with a range of colleagues and partners.
About you
You will be a positive and approachable role model with strong communication skills and the confidence to support and guide others. You will remain calm under pressure, including stepping up in the absence of the Establishment Manager.
You will be motivated and values-led, encouraging your team to deliver high standards in line with Progress with Unity. You will have experience in social care and the ability to support staff in their day-to-day work and help them develop in their role. Basic IT skills are essential, alongside a willingness to learn and develop.
About us
Wigan Council has been voted ‘Overall Council of the Year’ at the APSE (Association for Public Service Excellence) Awards. We are signed up to the Greater Manchester Continuous Service Commitment ensuring that your service will be continuous or 'unbroken' between the supporting organisations.
The Progress with Unity plan is a place movement for change for the next decade, bringing a new era for Wigan Borough. It draws on the strengths of our individual organisations, recognising that together we can achieve much more for our communities by delivering on our 2 place missions; create fair opportunities for all children, families, residents and businesses and make our towns and neighbourhoods flourish for those who live and work in them.
Inclusive Futures is part of Wigan Council Day Opportunities and is based within Be Well Robin Park Leisure Centre. The service supports young people aged 14-19 with a learning disability, complex needs and autism.
Our team is committed to delivering a person-centred, strengths-based approach that focuses on achieving positive outcomes, promoting independence and preparing young people for adulthood.
We are passionate about developing a skilled and confident workforce. You will receive a comprehensive induction, ongoing training and opportunities to develop your skills to support you in delivering high-quality care.
Here at Wigan, we are proud to support flexible working patterns, when the service can accommodate this. We also take a blended approach to where we work, depending on the work we do. This may include working from home, the office, or the community. We like to thank our employees for their hard work and commitment by giving them the opportunity to access a range of exclusive rewards and benefits. Find out more about working for TeamWigan.
