Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP)

I'm currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (MEP) to join a flagship healthcare project at a Hospital in Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to take full commercial ownership of an MEP package on a major Emergency Care Building development.
Working with the contractor, you'll report directly to the Commercial Manager and play a key role in ensuring the successful commercial delivery of this complex, high-value installation. This position offers genuine responsibility, autonomy, and exposure to a major regional healthcare scheme.
The Role
You will take ownership of all day-to-day commercial activities on site, ensuring strong governance, compliance, profitability and performance across the MEP package.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing robust commercial governance and maintaining transparency throughout the project lifecycle
Preparing and submitting accurate applications, invoices and CVRs
Pricing, negotiating and securing variations, loss & expense claims and entitlements
Supporting budgeting, forecasting, reporting and overhead reviews
Managing subcontract procurement, tender assessments and subcontract account administration
Producing subcontract documentation and overseeing supply chain performance
Measuring works, agreeing variations and assessing claims including prolongation and L&E
Building strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and end users
Mitigating commercial risk and managing potential disputes
Providing commercial support to operations teams
Mentoring and supporting junior commercial staff
Working collaboratively with both main contractors and subcontractors
What We're Looking For
Degree (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
RICS accredited or working toward chartership (desirable)
Minimum 5 years' experience in an MEP QS or Senior QS position
Experience delivering projects of similar scale and complexity
Strong contract administration background
Proven success securing time- and cost-based variations
Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills
High attention to detail and strong commercial acumen
Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with Payapps or similar systems beneficial
Full UK driving licence
You'll need to be commercially sharp, highly organised, and confident operating in a fast-paced, high-value project environment.
