Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Steel Erector role based in the United Kingdom. The Steel Erector will assemble, install, and secure structural steel components for substations using drawings, plans, and site instructions. Day-to-day work includes unloading and positioning steel sections, bolting or welding connections, aligning and leveling structures, and installing temporary bracing as required. The role involves using power tools and lifting equipment, working at height with appropriate fall protection, and collaborating closely with site supervisors, crane/ plant operators, and other trades. The Steel Erector will be expected to follow strict health and safety procedures, carry out basic inspections of equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in working with structural steel, including handling, positioning, and securing steel sections and components.
• Hands-on experience using power tools and associated site equipment safely and effectively.
• Competence in welding for steel erection tasks, including preparing joints and performing basic structural welds (relevant certificates preferred).
• Knowledge and practical experience in rigging, including slinging loads, signaling crane operators, and following lifting plans.
• Strong understanding and application of fall protection, including safe use of harnesses, lanyards, and other work-at-height systems.
• Previous experience as a Steel Erector or similar role in structural steelwork or construction, preferably within the UK.
• Relevant industry qualifications or certifications (e.g., CSCS/CPCS, NVQ in Steel Erecting, Working at Height, Manual Handling) are highly beneficial.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, good communication skills, and a commitment to health, safety, and quality on site.
