Overview
Assistant Quantity Surveyor role at Balfour Beatty plc. You will join our commercial team, develop your career in a supportive environment, gain hands-on experience, and work towards professional qualifications with RICS, ICES, or CIOB. You’ll play a key role in managing project costs, ensuring quality standards, and engaging with our supply chain.
Responsibilities
* Supporting cost management and value engineering activities
* Measuring and valuing work in line with project requirements
* Assisting with procurement and subcontractor management
* Preparing cost reconciliation statements and reports
* Using ERP and BMS systems for project tracking
* Contributing to weekly and monthly work programmes
* Maintaining accurate project documentation and records
* Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders
You’ll also be encouraged to maintain a Personal Development Plan and support the development of junior team members where appropriate.
Who we're looking for
* A recent graduate with a BSc in Quantity Surveying, or
* An Assistant QS with proven experience in a similar role
You should also have
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* A proactive and achievement-focused mindset
* A good understanding of the construction industry and the role of a QS
* A desire to work towards professional membership with RICS, ICES, or CIOB
* Experience using Oracle R12, good Excel and Word skills
* An awareness and understanding of different Contract Forms (NEC4, JCT, etc)
Experience with cost management systems and construction project documentation is desirable.
