Description

At Amplience, we’re transforming how global brands create, manage and deliver content. We provide a powerful, unified platform spanning Content Management Systems, Data Assest Management and Content Supply Chain solutions so retailers can move faster, smarter and with confidence.

Our vision is simple but bold: a world where content moves at the speed of ideas. We’re growing and doing things differently. That means flexibility in how and where you work, a genuinely collaborative culture, and the chance to learn from smart people solving real-world problems. We believe great work happens when people feel supported, trusted and able to live well outside of work.

What you'll be doing

As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll lead a team that owns one of Amplience’s core systems, overseeing both the stability and enhancement of the existing platform while driving new feature development. By collaborating closely with architects and stakeholders, you’ll ensure reliability, performance, and continuous innovation to meet evolving business needs. This includes

Technical Leadership - You’ll provide technical direction across the software development lifecycle, ensuring best practices, high standards and scalable solutions.

Hands-On Engineering- You’ll contribute directly to the codebase, helping deliver sprint goals and tackling complex technical challenges.

Team Leadership and Coaching- You’ll line-manage a small, high-performing engineering team including mentoring, coaching and fostering a collaborative engineering culture.

Platform Ownership- You’ll ensure the stability, performance, and evolution of a mission-critical platform, working closely with architects and stakeholders to drive innovation.

What you’ll bring

You’ll bring a strong background in software engineering, with hands-on experience building systems in Java and TypeScript. You’ll have commercial experience with AWS and its core services, have familiarity with NoSQL principals (DynamoDB would be a bonus), and have worked with search technologies. Ideally you will have designed and delivered event-driven, asynchronous systems, and understand how to build, deploy and operate software using CI/CD pipelines and automation best practices. We’d love to see on CV’s how you’ve built scalable, highly available platforms, and that you’re familiar with REST and GraphQL API design principles.

Beyond your technical expertise working in complex, mission-critical systems and ideally SaaS environments, you must also have a background in a technical leadership or team lead capacity, where you’ve mentored engineers, provided technical direction, or line-managed team members.

If you’re excited by technology, have a passion for learning and want to be part of a company shaping the future of e-commerce content, we’d love to hear from you.

By joining Amplience you can help content move at the speed of ideas.

What's in it for you

At Amplience, we believe great work happens when people feel supported, trusted, and able to live well beyond work. That’s why we offer Flexi Fridays, company-wide recharge days and a paid day off in your birthday month, giving you genuine time to rest and reset. You’ll benefit from a competitive pension, the option to buy extra holiday and the flexibility of remote working, alongside access to the latest tech, a cycle-to-work scheme, and an advanced season ticket loan. We invest in your future too, with learning and development opportunities, study leave and life assurance, plus volunteering leave so you can give back. On top of that, you’ll get to work with some great people who are truly passionate about what they do. While the role is predominately remote, we have connection days once a month in either our Middlesbrough or Manchester hub to connect, collaborate and strengthen relationships with your team.

If this sounds like you and want to be part of our continued growth, please forward your CV to discuss further.
At Amplience, we’re transforming how the world’s leading brands create, manage, and deliver content. We provide a powerful, unified platform spanning CMS, DAM, and Content Supply Chain solutions — built to help retailers move at the speed of ideas.

Headquartered in the UK and backed by two world-class private equity partners, we’re a 150-strong team driving innovation for more than 500 global brands. Our technology helps retailers and brands rethink how content powers commerce, streamlining every step of the content lifecycle — from the initial spark of an idea to the final moment of delivery.

Our vision is bold: A world where content moves at the speed of ideas.
Our mission is clear: To redefine how content powers commerce by optimising the entire content supply chain — from ideation to execution.

We work with some of the most respected brands in retail and lifestyle, including:
North America: Converse, Under Armour, Crate & Barrel, Tapestry, Ulta Beauty, Gap, Columbia
Europe: John Lewis, Boots, Otto, Frasers Group, JD Sports, Armani, Mars, ASDA, Primark, and Argos

As we scale, our focus is on deepening partnerships, expanding across brand portfolios, and unlocking new value through innovation and cross-selling opportunities.

Be part of Our Journey
Achieving our mission means doing things differently. It takes a team that’s ambitious, curious, and committed to shaping the future of commerce content.

That’s why we’re building a company where people bring their unique skills, character, and passion to a truly global team — one that learns together, grows together, and wins together.

Our people are stewards of the business, helping us succeed through care, commitment, and conviction.

In return, we offer flexibility in where, when, and how you work — because we know the best ideas don’t come from being tied to a desk or a clock.

It’s an exciting time to join Amplience. With new leadership, fresh momentum, and big ambitions, we’re ready for what’s next.

Our Hiring Process
We understand that finding the right fit is a two-way conversation, so we strive to make our hiring process transparent, respectful of your time, and clear at every stage.

While the specific steps may vary depending on the role, our process typically begins with an introductory conversation with our People team, followed by a meeting with the hiring manager. At this stage, you’ll learn more about the role, the team, and the journey ahead.

The hiring manager will outline what to expect, including opportunities to meet cross-functional peers, key stakeholders, and members of our leadership team.

Most roles include a panel interview and a short presentation, designed to give you the chance to showcase your thinking, approach and suitability for the role. We conclude with a 15-minute culture alignment conversation with the relevant department head, typically a member of our executive leadership team.

Throughout the process, we’re committed to open communication, timely feedback, and creating a positive candidate experience at every touchpoint.

Diversity & Inclusion at Amplience
At Amplience, we believe the best ideas come from a diverse mix of minds, backgrounds, and experiences. That’s why we’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where everyone feels they belong and can thrive.

Amplience UK Ltd. / Amplience, Inc. is an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, or protected veteran status.
We actively foster a culture where individuality is not just accepted but celebrated.

We encourage every team member to bring their whole self to work because when people feel safe to express themselves, they do their best work.

It’s the diversity of thought, experience, and perspective that fuels our ability to grow, innovate, and stay relevant. If you’re looking to be part of a company that values impact over hierarchy and creativity over conformity, Amplience might be the place for you.
