Are you a practical, reliable and hands-on person who takes pride in keeping a school safe, clean and welcoming?
We are looking for an enthusiastic Caretaker / Premises Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the day-to-day care and maintenance of our school site.
About the Role
As our Caretaker, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring our school is a safe, well-maintained and inspiring environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You’ll manage the upkeep of buildings and grounds, carry out minor repairs, oversee contractors, and help ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out day-to-day maintenance and repairs of the school buildings, grounds and equipment.
Opening and securing the premises, ensuring the site is safe and ready for use.
Monitoring cleaning standards and maintaining a tidy, welcoming environment.
Managing site security, including alarms, keys and access.
Liaising with contractors and supporting larger maintenance projects.
Ensuring compliance with health and safety, fire safety and safeguarding procedures.
Managing budgets and ordering supplies where necessary (for Premises Manager level).About You
You’ll be someone who takes pride in their work and enjoys making a difference. You’ll be organised, proactive and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
We’re looking for someone with:
2–3 years of experience in a caretaking, maintenance, or premises management role (ideally within a school or similar environment).
Practical skills in basic plumbing, decorating, joinery or electrical work.
A sound understanding of health and safety regulations.
