Position - Social Worker - Intake Team

The Vale of Glamorgan are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Social Worker to join their dynamic team in their Child and Young People Services. This position plays a crucial role in assessing the needs of children and families, conducting investigations, and determining appropriate interventions to ensure their safety and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct a range of assessments to evaluate the needs of children and families referred to our services
2. Conduct section 47 inquiries to investigate concerns of child maltreatment or neglect
3. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to establish and implement long-term plans for families, including the initiation of court proceedings if necessary
4. Prioritise the needs of children and families and ensure timely and appropriate support is provided
5. Transfer families to family support teams if intervention extends beyond three months
6. Maintain a manageable caseload of 20-22 children, adjusting as necessary based on the complexity of the cases
7. Provide empathetic and supportive services to families experiencing crisis situations, demonstrating a child-focused approach and remaining calm and composed in unpredictable circumstances
Requirements:
8. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with families and collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners
11. Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
12. Commitment to professional development and ongoing learning
