Who You Are The ideal candidate is an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician with a focus on maintaining high standards of vehicle maintenance and safety. You should be adaptable, capable of working split shifts, and committed to continuous improvement to meet the demands of a dynamic environment. What the Job Involves Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and repairing the council's fleet of vehicles in accordance with legal, regulatory, and manufacturer standards. You will conduct vehicle inspections, servicing, repairs, and MOT testing. You will also be involved in administration and operational support, ensuring vehicles are safe and roadworthy. Additional duties include managing transactions related to MOT tests, liaising with the public, and conducting training. Skills NVQ 3 Heavy Motor Vehicle qualification or equivalent. Qualified Commercial Vehicle Inspector and Nominated Tester (VOSA accreditation). Intermediate welding and Motor Vehicle Electrical Skills. Experience with vehicle maintenance and diagnostics for various vehicle manufacturers. Proficiency in IT systems including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Fleetwave. Excellent verbal, written communication, and numeracy skills. Capability to work independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Health & Safety at Work Act and relevant transport legislation. Experience in a transport workshop environment.
