Job Description Wood is recruiting for a Process Consultant to join our exciting team to support and assure delivery excellence across our Process and Energy business. This role is based in Glasgow with an expectation of working Hybrid (3 days in office).
Responsibilities
Definition and approval of technical Process workscopes on Proposals
Manage the execution of assigned scopes of work for Process and act as the Process Lead where assigned
Provision of Discipline expertise to the business including Technical Authority responsibility
Contribute to business growth through the support to Business Development
Provide cover to the Discipline Manager of Process in Glasgow as requested
The Process Consultant will be a technical expert/specialist who can develop and evaluate Project Execution Plans and services that are carried out by Process Group and others. Assessment of the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering designs, products, equipment and other engineering deliverables.
Be a Technical Specialist who is recognized as an expert within the Process Department. Possesses a thorough knowledge of Process Engineering principles and theories and contributes significantly to the solution of engineering problems.
Solves complex problems requiring formulating and testing hypotheses based on limited evidence or precedent; in doing so exercises seasoned business judgement in developing innovative business solutions.
Provides professional direction and guidance on complex assignments or projects and guidance to the business. Provides consultative direction to other functional areas or groups and across the organisation, recognised as a technical authority in the company.
Exercises Technical Authority over groups of professional process personnel. In addition to specialization, generally directs highly qualified professionals engaged in complex engineering deliverables, applications and projects.
Provides technical reviews and can carry out audits for projects within area of expertise as requested.
Will support Business winning by providing engineering and technology support to Business Development and Project Proposal teams.
Qualifications ISCED Level 6 Bachelors (minimum), Level 7 Masters (preferred) or Level 8 Doctorate Degree in Chemical Engineering, alternatively, tertiary level education combined with suitable industry experience can be used to demonstrate equivalence.
Chartered or Fellow of IChemE or equivalent/relevant professional license/registration.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Technology knowledge in Life sciences / Pharmaceutical (preferable), Fine Chemicals (preferable) Renewables/Power (Preferable), Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Oil & Gas, Petrochemicals & Chemicals
Typically requires extensive experience and accomplishments resulting in recognition as a technical expert in a particular Process field or Technology
Typically requires supervisory experience and understanding of human relations, training, performance evaluation and health and safety
Ability to effectively manage resources (personnel, equipment, materials etc) and inspire and motivate a team
Ingenuity and initiative to coordinate problem resolution and to executive the schedule requirements within a team environment
Extensive knowledge of industry standards and specifications, engineering and construction practices
Knowledge of relevant regulatory framework and legislation
Possess a good knowledge of the various Business Units, Functions, Sectors and services offered within business area, a good understanding of other Wood business offerings and ability to network and connect internal stakeholders
