Stoke‑on‑Trent City Council – Public Health, Protection and Wellbeing – Department: Insights, Knowledge, Performance and Research – Location: Civic Centre – Grade: Level 6 – Salary: £28,598‑£31,022 per annum – Hours: 37 per week – Contract: 36‑month fixed term – Open to internal and external applicants.
The team works across a broad range of statutory and non‑statutory duties to protect and improve the health, wellbeing and safety of residents. You will support data analytics and develop a Level 6 Data Scientist Apprenticeship.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead or support data analysis, surveys and reports presenting complex findings to diverse audiences
* Support further development of statistical methods within the team and with wider stakeholders, maintaining links to external partners to stay abreast of best practice
* Manage data pipelines from across the local authority and partners
* Conduct deep‑dive analysis on priority areas such as child development and domestic abuse
* Develop reporting dashboards to support service monitoring such as Environmental Health and Trading Standards, delivery of NHS Health Checks
About You
* Demonstrate the ability to understand and interpret statistics and work with data, and an understanding of areas you are keen to develop through the apprenticeship
* Be self‑motivated, able to operate well within a team and balance organisational workload while studying and completing assignments for your apprenticeship
* Demonstrate experience at a proficient level with data management or presentation software such as Excel, Access or PowerBI
* Understand and communicate principles of data science to others and support the development of knowledge across the organisation
