About the role

We have a vacancy for a Street Works Inspector within our Street Works Team. This is a permanent post based at Glanyrafon Depot, Aberystwyth.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring Street Works and Roadworks as required by the New Roads and Street Works Act & Traffic Management Act, identify non-compliance, and initiate any enforcement action as necessary.

Under the general direction of the Team Leader Streetworks, the post holder will be required to:

1. Receive notices for works and make inspections to monitor compliance with the specification and procedures for noticing
2. Liaise with utility companies and contractors as necessary to ensure compliance with the New Roads and Street Works Act (NRSWA), and the Code of Practice for Co-ordination
3. Deal with local issues and matters arising under NRSWA and liaise with licensees under various sections of the NRSWA and the Highways Act

We are looking to recruit an individual who:

4. Has knowledge of Highway Maintenance and NRSWA
5. Is flexible and able to work under pressure, both independently and as a member of the team
6. Is able to resolve conflicts and deal with issues of a complex and contentious nature
7. Is proficient and confident in the use of ICT systems including GIS.
8. Has a full UK driving licence

The post requires a limited degree of fluency in the Welsh language.
