Overview
TOC (Transportation Operation Center) is the central command and control center for Transportation Execution across the Amazon Supply Chain network, supporting multiple geographies like NA, India and EU. It ensures timely pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers (FC) and from FCs to carrier hubs. In case of exceptions, TOC resolves issues and keeps stakeholders informed. TOC also monitors network trends and analyzes data to automate processes or propose changes to streamline operations, with the aim of ensuring the smooth functioning of Amazon transportation and timely delivery to customers.
Trans Ops Specialist: Inbound and Outbound
A Trans Ops Specialist at TOC facilitates flow of information between different stakeholders (Trans Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolves issues that impact customer experience and business continuity. The role covers two verticals – Inbound and Outbound operations.
Inbound Operations deals with Vendor/Carrier/FC relationships, ensuring freight is picked up on time and delivered to the FC as per the appointment. The Trans Ops Specialist on Inbound addresses issues occurring during the lifecycle from pick-up to delivery.
Outbound Operations deals with FC/Carrier/Carrier Hub relationships, ensuring the truck leaves the FC to deliver customer orders as promised. The Trans Ops Specialist on Outbound addresses issues during the lifecycle of freight leaving the FC and reaching customer premises.
A Trans Ops Specialist provides timely resolution by researching internal tools and making real-time decisions. The ideal candidate should understand requirements, analyze data, notice trends, and drive Customer Experience without compromising on time. The candidate should have a basic understanding of Logistics and be able to communicate clearly in written and spoken form. The Trans Ops Specialist should ideate process improvements and drive them to completion.
Responsibilities
* Communication with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers)
* Ability to pull data from numerous databases (using Excel, Access, SQL and/or other data management systems) and perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed
* Develop and/or understand performance metrics to assist with driving business results
* Ability to scope out business and functional requirements for Amazon technology teams who create and enhance software systems and tools used by TOC
* Quickly understand the business impact of trends and make data-driven decisions
* Escalate problems or variances in information to the relevant owners and teams and follow through on resolutions
* Work within various time constraints to meet critical business needs while measuring and identifying activities performed
* Communicate findings clearly, including weekly narratives and variance analyses, in review forums
* Provide real-time customer experience support while operating in a 24x7 environment
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor's degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics
* Experience with Excel
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Experience in SQL
