Thive Oldham are delighted to be working with our client in the Leicestershire area who are actively looking to recruit a Pension Assistant. Job Purpose To administer the provisions of the Local Government Pension Scheme. To facilitate the calculation and payment of benefits to contributors of the Local Government Pension Scheme through the accurate maintenance of all pension records. To administer the computerised documentation and workflow recording systems. Manage a caseload ensuring statutory deadlines and KPI's are achieved. Main Duties and Responsibilities The duties and responsibilities of Pensions Assistant are listed below. You will be required to complete some or all of duties as deemed appropriate by your Team Manager in accordance with the needs of the office. it is expected that you will be flexible in your approach and to ensure the future success of the Pension Section you will contribute to the work of the other teams when required. To deal with 'Helpdesk' enquiries received from members including pensioner payroll queries, either in person, or telephone, liaising with colleagues as required. Assist members to register and access their Online Accounts. Ensuring adequate security checks are undertaken with a high regards to keeping sensitive data secure. Assist with maintaining accurate and up to date computerised records for all scheme members of the pension scheme e.g. address change, life certificates, expression of wishes, current values of pensions, requests for transfers. To calculate and process all types of preserved benefits in an accurate and timely manner. Also process refunds and frozen refunds in a timely manner and pay refunds accurately and efficiently as required. To deal with all aspects of purchase of additional pension contributions (APCs) Process work arising from monthly starter interfaces, assisting in processing and ensuring information is received monthly from Fund employers regarding new scheme members and changes to existing members, to enable starter interfaces to be produced. To ensure the adequate stock control of Pension Service documents such as Membership and Death Grant Forms. Collection and distribution on post and emails, ensuring correct scanning and indexing documents, ensuring cheques are paid to cashiers. To undertake reception duties, photocopying, maintaining office stationery, and other general office duties. To deal with year-end work including contributions and pensionable pay work in an accurate and timely manner liaising with employers as required. Assist with the on boarding of small employers and balancing of monthly pension contributions with uploads to the iConnect system. At Grade 7 - In addition to the duties at Grade 6 Calculate and pay Cash Equivalent Transfer Values (CETVs) both in and out of LG, other schemes, overseas and AVC transfers in a timely manner, being aware of pension liberation issues at all times. Check any Grade 6 work either completed by colleagues or self-check, as required. Calculate estimates and capital costs for Fund employers accurately and in a timely manner. Use the record cleansing tool for identifying and resolving data errors. General to both Grades To remain familiar with pensions legislation and other regulations in as much as the affect procedures relating to the duties of the post. To deal with enquiries from scheme members on pension related matters in an effective and sensitive manner. Any other duties as specified by the Pensions Team Manager or Assistant Team Manager from time to time appropriate to the responsibilities of the post. Subject to the duration of the need, the special conditions given below apply: The nature of the work may involve the post-holder carrying out work outside of normal working hours. The post-holder may be required to attend, from time to time, training courses, conferences, seminars or other meetings as required by his/her own training needs and the needs of the service.
