We are committed to promoting, delivering and implementing high standards of person-centred care for people living with dementia and experiencing delirium.
We are looking for a colleague who has had significant prior experience of working with people living with dementia and / or experiencing delirium and their carers. As part of your role you may be expected to assist patients with activities of daily living promoting independence and well-being and supporting patients presenting with distress reactions. You must be confident in de-escalation and have experience in behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD).
UHD are investing in services across the Trust, with many being transformed and developed following merger and the New Hospital Programme.This means that some services may move site this year or next, either temporarily or long term. Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
Significant Experience of working with people living with dementia and/or experiencing Delirium

Care certificate
Courses relating to dementia/delirium
An excellent understanding of dementia and delirium
Able to recognise own level of competence and seek support where necessary
Knowledge on managing and supporting delirium
Advanced knowledge in planning interventions
