Emergency Dispatchers – Control Room Team
We are currently recruiting for Emergency Dispatchers to join the Control Room team at the Emergency Operations Centre in Chelmsford. The successful applicant will be responsible for the deployment of emergency ambulance resources and support the delivery of a high level of clinical quality and the best possible patient care. You will communicate with operational colleagues and teams within the Control Room to ensure the most appropriate emergency ambulance response is arranged.
This role will follow a relief rota (further information will be provided at interview).
Responsibilities
* Remain calm and focused during high-pressure situations.
* Make quick decisions and multitask efficiently.
* Project a commitment to making a difference to patient care.
* Deploy emergency ambulance resources across a specific geographical area in accordance with local and national performance targets and call triage categories.
* Communicate effectively with operational colleagues and teams.
* Prioritise workloads and make rapid decisions while maintaining professionalism.
Qualifications & Experience
* Minimum of 2 years experience within a customer-focused environment, managing workload in a busy, challenging and fast‑paced setting.
* Awareness of equality and diversity, solid geographical knowledge of the area.
* Experience working as part of a team and using computerised systems.
* Strong communication skills and IT literacy.
* 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (or equivalent qualification) including English.
Shift Pattern
The role involves a rotating shift pattern covering days, nights, weekends and public holidays.
