What are our benefits
Here at Gwent Police, we value our employees, and we provide ample support and training to ensure you excel in your role, alongside receiving benefits such as:
* Welsh Language Speakers Welcome!
* We are actively recruiting Welsh speakers to help us meet public demand and uphold our commitment to the Welsh Language Standards. If you’re not yet fluent but eager to learn, we also welcome applicants who are committed to developing their Welsh language skills—support and resources are available to help you grow.
* Please note for Welsh speaking candidates the initial national test is completed in English. Internal Force processes including force assessment centre and interview can be conducted in Welsh. To support candidates it is suggested that you change Language to Welsh on the Jobs Posting Board.
* Our Force Contact & Control Operators are the heartbeat of emergency response—highly trained, calm under pressure, and skilled in managing both urgent 999 calls and non-emergency contacts via 101. They are the initial investigators to every crime and incident reported to Gwent Police, obtaining the detail needed to assess the risk and applying critical decision-making skills to determine the correct police response. The information they obtain, and the decisions they make, not only influences the victim's safety and overall experience, but also play a pivotal role in identifying, apprehending, and prosecuting offenders. Additionally they coordinate the deployment of police resources, ensuring the right officers are in the right place at the right time.
This is a challenging and varied role that calls for exceptional individuals who are resilient, resourceful, and able to thrive under pressure. You\'ll need to juggle competing priorities, think on your feet, and handle sensitive—sometimes emotionally challenging—calls with professionalism and care.
Our team are at the heart of everything we do and you\'ll be supported, nurtured and developed every step of the way!
What We're Looking For

If you\'re passionate about helping others and thrive in fast-paced environments, this could be the perfect role for you.
