Brief Description
Who are we looking for? We're looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Sourcing Specialist with a solid background in procurement, ideally within a regulated or public sector environment. You'll have a strong grasp of sourcing strategies and contract management, with the ability to navigate complex procurement frameworks. The ideal candidate will be a confident communicator, skilled at building relationships with stakeholders and suppliers alike, and comfortable using e-sourcing tools to deliver best value for the business.

About the team.. You'll be joining a supportive and collaborative Commercial & Procurement team that plays a key role in keeping Britain's railways running efficiently and safely. We work closely with a wide range of stakeholders across the business to deliver value for money, ensure compliance, and support strategic objectives. It's a fast-paced and dynamic environment where your ideas are valued, and professional development is encouraged.
What does the average day look like? As a Sourcing Specialist, you'll play a crucial role in shaping and delivering effective sourcing strategies from initial business need through to contract signature. Working closely with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll implement category plans, negotiate savings, and manage sourcing activities in line with regulatory and governance standards. You'll help drive continuous improvement, support supplier transitions, and contribute to our wider commercial goals, all while ensuring an excellent experience for our internal customers. In this collaborative and fast-paced environment, your work will directly support Network Rail's vision and our ambition to be a best-in-class procurement function.
Essential Criteria
• Educated to a Business or Economics degree standard or equivalent business experience
• Demonstrable level of Sourcing experience, with a track record of savings delivery
• Experience with negotiation and dispute resolution skill set
• Experience with contract law and financial management
• Experience with driving value from sourcing opportunities
• Experienced with agile cross-functional collaborative working methods
• Politically aware, with the proven ability to use direct and indirect influencing strategies at an executive level
• Experience of problem-solving complex sourcing specific challenges
• Completer finisher mindset
Desirable Criteria
• Detailed knowledge of the UK Rail Industry, including procurement processes in a reclassified environment
• Experience with agile cross-functional collaborative working methods
• Sourcing technology solutions would be advantageous
