About the Position
We are seeking a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) to join the Department of Accounting at Monash University, a vibrant and dynamic academic community committed to excellence in accounting research and teaching across diverse methodologies and topics.
The Department of Accounting is one of the largest academic departments of its kind and a leader in the advancement of accounting, research, practice and education. Ranked 10th globally by the Brigham Young Accounting Research Rankings for research over the last six years, our faculty publish in outstanding international outlets and have demonstrated impact on industry. Responsibilities
The role encompasses a broad range of academic responsibilities, including conducting high‑quality research with publication in leading accounting journals and contributing to research projects, potentially in a leadership capacity. The Department also supports interdisciplinary research with significant impact on the profession, regulation and industry. The successful candidate will be actively involved in all aspects of teaching, from delivering lectures, tutorials and workshops to developing course materials, coordinating programs and administering assessments. They will supervise honours and postgraduate students across coursework and research projects. Engagement in professional activities, participation in departmental and faculty governance, including committee work and strategic planning, are also essential components of the role.
Qualifications
You will hold a doctoral qualification in accounting or an equivalent qualification, and demonstrate research and education experience in any of the broad accounting disciplines and research methods undertaken in the Department.
You will have an emerging research profile demonstrated by a publication record or demonstrated potential to publish in high‑quality refereed accounting journals.
You will have a demonstrated record of teaching experience in a tertiary environment, and a proven ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly and research activities.
Your ability to work independently and collaboratively across academic and service settings, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, will support productive relationships with students, colleagues and external partners. A collaborative mindset and leadership qualities will be key assets in contributing to a collegial and high‑performing academic environment.
