Job Description
Our Hilsea site has an exciting opportunity for a Driver Trainer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Salary: £40,000-£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Working hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-6pm.
The purpose of a Driver Trainer is to ensure drivers are assessed before employment, trained in line with company policy and standards from the start of employment and throughout their careers. To support our site compliance team where practicable, ensuring standards are met and exceeded wherever possible.
Key Duties of a Driver Trainer:
* Deliver all aspects of training to drivers, including vehicle and trailer familiarisation, SAFED training, and Driver CPC.
* Assess potential new drivers, both permanent and agency.
* Plan and deliver induction plans for new drivers.
* Maintain training records and files.
* Update and brief drivers on SSOW processes and documentation.
* Ensure drivers are familiar with existing equipment and trained on new equipment when purchased or hired.
* Verify the validity of drivers' licences during pre-employment checks.
* Assist with Tachomaster system maintenance, including Risk Profiling.
* Review driver infringements and arrange re-training if necessary.
* Work with the Operations and Transport Manager to review motor vehicle accidents, conduct root cause analysis, and arrange re-training.
* Maintain communication between drivers and operational teams to ensure training requirements are met and policies are followed.
Qualifications:
* HGV Driving Licence – full, clean C+E.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience as an HGV driver.
* Educated to GCSE level.
* Training qualification.
* Good geographical knowledge of the UK.
* Experience with Microsoft Office software.
* CPC National Road Haulage (desirable).
* HGV Driving Instructor qualification (advantageous).
* Planning and organisational skills.
