Our clients are seeking a discreet, highly organised Estate Manager to oversee the smooth running of a large private country residence near Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
This hands-on role requires strong leadership, operational oversight, and an ability to manage staff, contractors, and projects to a high standard while maintaining a relaxed, informal household atmosphere.
Duties to include but not limited to:
Estate & Property Management:
1. Oversee day-to-day running and presentation of the Oxfordshire estate and grounds
2. Supervise and support existing staff (two housekeepers, one full-time gardener)
3. Manage all contractors and service providers (maintenance, security, utilities, etc.)
4. Coordinate repairs, renovations, and potential new building projects
5. Oversee estate security systems and gate access, including updates or improvements
Administration & Financial Management:
6. Prepare and manage household and estate budgets in consultation with principals
7. Track expenses, process invoices, and handle payroll for household staff
8. Manage vendor contracts, bids, and project budgets
9. Handle household administration, scheduling, and occasional travel coordination
Land & Farm Oversight:
10. Supervise gardens, lawns, and outdoor areas
11. Liaise with local farmers and explore field leasing opportunities to generate income
12. Oversee care of a small number of domestic animals (currently chickens)
Events & Lifestyle Support:
13. Coordinate and oversee private events, dinners, and family gatherings
14. Liaise with caterers, suppliers, and temporary staff for entertaining
15. Ensure the home is always guest-ready and well-presented
Candidate Requirements:
16. Proven experience as an Estate Manager in HNW Private Households
17. Strong leadership and people management skills
18. Excellent organisational, administrative, and problem-solving abilities
19. Technically competent with maintenance oversight and security systems
20. Warm, calm, and discreet demeanour with excellent interpersonal skills
21. Flexible and hands-on, able to adapt to changing family schedules
22. UK driving licence and ability to work independently
