As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will support students in overcoming barriers to learning, helping them build resilience, self-confidence, and positive relationships. This is a rewarding role for someone with patience, empathy, and the ability to provide both academic and emotional support. Key Responsibilities of a SEMH Teaching Assistant : Provide tailored support for pupils with SEMH needs in one-to-one and small group settings. Assist the class teacher with lesson delivery and adapt activities to meet individual needs. Promote positive behaviour and help pupils develop coping strategies. Support students in managing their emotions and building social skills. Monitor pupil progress and communicate regularly with teachers, SENCOs, and parents. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. SEMH Teaching Assistant Requirements: CACHE Level 2 or 3, NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Childcare/Teaching Assistance, or equivalent qualification. Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs is highly desirable. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. A calm, patient, and resilient approach.
