Job Summary
An opportunity has arisen to job our small and friendly team at the Princess Royal University Hospital in Orpington Kent as a rotational Band 4 Pharmacy Technician. We are looking for individuals who are either qualified pharmacy technicians (registered with the GPhC) or who are currently completing their qualification and expect to be registered with the GPhC within the next 6 months. We welcome applications from community technicians as full training will be provided
Main duties of the job
The post involves working in the Dispensary, Aseptic Services, Stores Department and with the Medicines Management team working on the wards to gain practical experience and assist in the delivery of the service in each of the sections.

Job responsibilities
Deliver a customer focused service to all patients and to adhere to the highest principles of customer services when dealing with patients, staff and the public
Promote pharmaceutical care for all patients
Manage and support the safe, accurate and timely supply of medicines to wards and clinics and other areas, as required,
Dispense drugs and prepare aseptically prepared products
Be able to check clinically screened dispensed prescriptions and become a validated volume checker in aseptics
Provide patients with information on common drug doses and use
Assess suitability of patients medicines on admission
Provide appropriate and sufficient supplies of medication during admission
Liaise with ward and pharmacy staff to facilitate the efficient transfer of medication when patients move wards
Act as the pharmacy technical link between wards and pharmacy, maintaining patients own drugs and one stop dispensing systems
Cover or to participate in ward stock top ups as necessary
Ensure the safe, effective and economical use of drugs for all patients in the Trust
Be responsible for the implementation of new or revised policies and procedures that will have an impact within the Pharmacy Department
Contribute to wider policies that have an impact within the Pharmacy Department and across the Trust
Be pro-active in the regular review and update of Pharmacy policies and procedures
Propose changes to working practices and dispensing techniques that will maximise the potential for efficiency and safety
