About the Role
Thinking about working in a school but don’t have experience yet? This is a way in.
We’re looking for Trainee Teaching Assistants to work across schools in Calne. You don’t need a background in education, we’ll train you and support you into your first placement. We can offer roles within: primary, secondary and SEND schools.
You’ll be working in real classrooms, building confidence and getting hands-on experience while learning on the job.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Supporting pupils in class, in small groups, or 1:1
2. Helping teachers with day-to-day classroom tasks
3. Supporting behaviour and keeping pupils engaged
4. Getting used to different school settings and routines
5. Building confidence working with children
National Teaching Assistant Programme
Before and during your placement, you’ll complete a set of straightforward, practical training courses:
6. Safeguarding
7. Behaviour Management
8. Introduction to being a Teaching Assistant
9. SEN awareness in schools and colleges
We’ll guide you through all of this - nothing is left for you to figure out on your own.
Placement & Support
10. We’ll help find your school placement
11. You’ll have a dedicated consultant checking in with you
12. Ongoing support while you’re in school
13. Help moving into longer-term or permanent roles if that’s what you want
Flexible Work
14. 0-hour contract - you choose when you’re available
15. Day-to-day work or longer placements
