About the Role
Barfection is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a beautiful lakeside restaurant in search of a skilled and passionate Pastry Chef to lead the morning kitchen operation and elevate the venue's sweet and savoury offerings.
This is a hands-on, full-time role ideal for someone with strong patisserie and baking skills who also enjoys preparing high-quality breakfast and brunch dishes. You'll be responsible for crafting a range of seasonal pastries, desserts, and fresh baked goods, as well as breakfast items that showcase creativity and consistency.
Set within a stunning natural setting, this position offers creative freedom and the chance to contribute to a growing, food-led venue. You'll collaborate with ownership to shape the morning menu, improve kitchen systems, and deliver an exceptional guest experience. Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and bake a variety of fresh, seasonal pastries, cakes, breads, and sweet treats
* Cook and plate breakfast and brunch dishes to a high standard
* Collaborate on the development of rotating pastry and breakfast menus
* Follow all recipes and presentation guidelines to ensure consistency
* Maintain excellent food hygiene, allergen management, and safety standards
* Assist with stock rotation, ordering, and managing prep schedules
* Support and mentor junior team members as needed
* Work independently in the mornings, taking ownership of your section
* Communicate with the kitchen manager or head chef to ensure smooth daily operations
Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience as a Pastry Chef, Breakfast Chef, or similar role in a quality-focused kitchen
* Strong foundation in traditional and contemporary pastry techniques
* Confident preparing seasonal, wholesome breakfast and brunch dishes
* Self-motivated, well-organised, and capable of working solo during early shifts
* Certified in food hygiene and safety (Level 2 or above)
* Passionate about fresh produce, local sourcing, and seasonal menus
* Creative, with a desire to innovate and contribute to the menu
* Calm, friendly, and reliable - a team player with a positive attitude
Work Schedule
* Morning shifts, Tuesday-Sunday (typically 6am-12pm, with some flexibility)
* Full-time hours (approx. 35-40 hours per week)
