A successful and established criminal practice is opening a new office in Coventry and is seeking a Duty Solicitor to join their growing team. This is a rare chance to help build a new office, shape a team, and make a real impact, all with the backing of an experienced wider practice.
The ideal candidate:
1. Duty Solicitor qualified and Police Station Accredited
2. Has a strong local reputation and following
3. Has management experience or is keen to develop these skills
4. Is excited to get involved in marketing, promotion, and developing services locally
You’ll also have the chance to work on Crown Court Litigation and Private Magistrates Court work, with opportunities for career progression, work-related bonuses, and internal training. Participation in the out-of-hours Police Station rota will be required.
Key Responsibilities
5. Meeting clients and providing expert criminal law advice
6. Managing your own caseload from police station to trial
7. Drafting applications, documents, and letters
8. Preparing evidence and responding to prosecution witness statements
9. Representing clients in court and instructing barristers
10. Attending the police station when required
11. Traveling across the area to represent clients
12. Supervising and supporting junior colleagues
13. Other duties as directed by management
Person Specification
14. Duty Solicitor Status & Police Station Accreditation must
15. Self-motivated, commercially minded, and proactive
16. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
17. Ability to manage high workloads in a fast-paced environment
18. Strong client care ethos and commitment to Criminal Law
19. Flexible, resilient, and a “can-do” attitude
20. Proficient in Microsoft Office and case management software
