Mechanical / Electrical in Hazardous Area Systems
Location: Rotherham + UK travel (company vehicle provided)
Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 + overtime + company van
Hours: Monday - Friday, core hours with paid overtime

The Opportunity
This is a field-based Service Engineer role within a specialist engineering business supporting fuel, fluid-handling and hazardous-area systems across customer sites throughout the UK.
Youll be responsible for carrying out planned servicing and preventative maintenance, with some reactive work, on safety-critical equipment in regulated environments. The role suits someone practical, reliable, and comfortable working independently on customer sites.
The majority of work is planned and scheduled for you, allowing you to focus on delivery rather than chasing work. Youll be provided with a fully equipped company van and distances between sites can be significant, this is a true field role.
What Youll Be Doing
Carrying out planned servicing and maintenance on customer systems
Undertaking reactive fault-finding when required
Working on mechanical equipment with associated electrical fault diagnosis
Producing clear service reports and customer documentation
Completing permits, RAMS, and site paperwork
Providing remote diagnostic support when not on site
Supporting workshop build and functional testing when site work allows
Working safely at all times in hazardous and regulated environments
Technical Environment
Fuel and fluid-handling systems
Pumps, valves, pipework and associated equipment
Electrical systems in hazardous areas
Outdoor, industrial, and petrochemical environments
Once you understand one system, others become familiar, training and guidance are provided.
What Were Looking For
Youll be a hands-on engineer who takes pride in safe, reliable work.
Essential:
Experience in service, maintenance or field engineering
Mechanical repair experience with electrical fault-finding capability
Comfortable working on live equipment in hazardous areas (with guidance)
Ability to work independently and manage your own time
Strong safety awareness and documentation discipline
Full UK driving licence and right to work in the UK
Highly desirable:
Hazardous area training (CompEx awareness beneficial)
Experience with pumps, valves and pipework
IT-literate and comfortable completing reports digitally
MEWP / PASMA / IPAF (training provided if needed)
Safety Passport (preferred, not essential)
