Job Purpose
To centrally manage, negotiate and purchase all group consumables and use group buying power to reduce costs and improve efficiencies in every division, while considering our scope 3 emissions and sustainability targets.
Tasks and Responsibilities
* Source and purchase all group consumables, achieving bulk purchase prices and maintaining or improving quality.
* Source, trial and procure group consumables that meet sustainability targets with a focus on circular options: recycled, reusable, refillable and reduced packaging.
* Work with consumables suppliers to provide product carbon footprint data and life‑cycle data for our sustainability team.
* Liaise with Group Marketing to source, negotiate and purchase items defined by them to achieve best price and quality.
* Ensure group consumables purchases and indirect spend are centrally managed and controlled through Dynamics 365, assigning an AX item reference to each consumable item.
* Analyze and agree the best location for the supply of group consumables to reduce lead times, shipping/freight costs and improve efficiency.
* Coordinate regularly with colleagues responsible for consumable purchases in each CPL location to ensure group quality standardization, savings and best practice.
* Source, negotiate and purchase capital expenditure items such as IT and analytical equipment to group specifications.
* Negotiate existing and new contracts for the group, including gas and electricity in the UK.
* Manage consumable stock levels to ensure materials are always available when required.
* Monitor and manage group stocks of consumable items to prevent obsolescence or slow movement and reallocate slow moving stocks to other group divisions where necessary.
* Seek new sources or producers for consumable and capital items.
* Attend trade shows, exhibitions and conferences to meet potential new and existing suppliers.
* Produce a quarterly purchasing report detailing monthly spend, savings, and any price fluctuations.
