Job Description:
Your new company
You'll be joining a dynamic and growing biotech company focused on innovation and collaboration. They are looking for a proactive, adaptable, and highly organised Operations Manager to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is pivotal, touching every part of the business - from HR and finance to facilities and IT - and is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
Your new role
You'll be heavily involved in the day-to-day operations, liaising with colleagues from lab scientists to C-suite leaders and external vendors. The role is based in Edinburgh, with potential for 1 day/week working from home. Major responsibilities include:
* Ensuring smooth daily operations of the office and facilities.
* Serving as the first point of contact for HR-related queries; supporting policy development and employee relations.
* Supporting payroll, vendor payments, and invoicing processes with finance support.
* Managing relationships with service providers and facilities teams.
* Overseeing office management tasks including supplies and space planning.
* Supporting onboarding and offboarding, including basic IT setup and troubleshooting.
* Collaborating with the executive team on strategic initiatives.
* Driving operational projects with initiative and attention to detail.
* Maintaining and improving internal processes for efficiency and employee experience.
* Ensuring compliance with relevant policies across HR, finance, and facilities.
For senior candidates, there is an alternative 9-month contract role at an Operations Lead/Director level with a generous package.
What you'll need to succeed
Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Other requirements include:
* Experience in operations, office management, or HR-focused roles, ideally in startups or SMEs.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to handle multiple tasks and switch between functions easily.
* Understanding of HR practices and processes (CIPD not required).
* Basic IT literacy and confidence in handling common tech issues.
* Highly organised with excellent time management.
* Self-starter with ownership and follow-through mindset.
What you'll get in return
You will be integral to daily business operations, with exposure to senior leadership and vendors. Opportunities for learning and development are plentiful, supporting innovative therapies. The package includes a salary, bonus, generous leave, and other benefits.
