Are you ambitious and seeking a new role?
Thomas Bewick School is seeking to appoint a fixed-term (to 31st December 2026) Lead Administrator with relevant experience (in a school or similar environment) to join our busy, friendly admin team to start as soon as possible.
The position would suit current administrative assistants who are highly motivated and interested in a career in administration.
Key Duties
* Work with Office Manager to provide high quality, efficient and effective support to the Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team
* Support development and training of admin team members
* Manage manual and computerised records and information systems
* Provide HR administrative support
* Liaise with staff, pupils and parents to meet the requirements of the academy, including arranging events, work experience and administering cover for absent staff
The post holder will be expected to manage their own workload and respond to the many interruptions of a busy school office. The successful applicant needs to be committed, flexible and motivated in their work. Training and support will be provided.
About the School
Thomas Bewick School is a specialist provision for autistic children and young people aged 3‑19 years with a range of abilities and differences associated with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The school operates over four sites: Sites 1 and 2 in West Denton; Satellite sites in Denton Burn and Kenton (Sites 3 and 4). The curriculum is taught and supported by caring, friendly and dedicated staff trained in ASC specific approaches.

Trust currently has 5 schools:
- Newcastle Bridges School – Alternative Provision for pupils unable to access mainstream school due to medical needs
- Mary Astell Academy – Alternative Provision for permanently excluded pupils and those struggling in mainstream school
- Thomas Bewick Special School – Special School for pupils with a diagnosis of autism
- Harry Watts Academy – Special School for pupils with a diagnosis of autism
- Gilbert Ward Academy – Special School for pupils with SEMH or a diagnosis of autism
Prosper Learning Trust is the lead partner for a new Free School in Jarrow (specialist for SEMH). Successful candidates may be deployed at any Trust site.
