Deputy Head of Quality Assurance Location: Hammersmith & Charing Cross Hospitals, London Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week Salary Band: NHS Band 8b Contract Type: Permanent About the Role We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Deputy Head of Quality Assurance to lead the QA and QC functions within the Pharmacy Technical Services department. This is a pivotal role ensuring the safe, compliant, and high-quality manufacture of pharmaceutical products under MHRA regulations. The right candidate will act as a Releasing Officer under the MHRA Specials Licence, oversee internal audits, manage QA/QC teams, and ensure full compliance with GMP, GCP, and EU pharmaceutical manufacturing standards. The role also involves strategic planning, training delivery, and continuous improvement of quality systems. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage QA/QC operations across pharmacy manufacturing. Act as Releasing Officer for manufactured products. Oversee internal audits, CAPAs, and validation programmes. Manage external contracts and service level agreements. Develop and maintain quality documentation and SOPs. Provide expert pharmaceutical advice and training to staff. Candidate Requirements: Essential: BSc in Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical Science. Extensive experience in pharmaceutical QA/QC within hospital or industry. Strong knowledge of GMP, clean room protocols, and quality systems. Skilled in analytical techniques (e.g. HPLC, UV/VIS) and environmental monitoring. Excellent communication, leadership, and time management skills. Desirable: MSc/PhD in Life Sciences or Pharmaceutical QA. Knowledge of GCP and Good Laboratory Practice. Experience in departmental management and clinical trials.
