Permanent with funding. Location: London Borough of Newham. Hours: 30 hours per week. Salary: £24,161.14 - £26,845.71 pro rata.
Role Summary
The Children’s Society has launched a new Time for young people support space in Plaistow, Newham and is looking for a committed wellbeing practitioner to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a service as part of the organisation’s mission to reverse the decline of children’s wellbeing by 2030. Support should be provided at the earliest possible opportunity, before young people reach crisis point.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver 1‑1 interventions and group work sessions with young people both at the hub and through additional community sites. Provide inclusive and trauma‑informed support, working holistically to address the whole needs of young people. Deliver drop‑in services and contribute to the development of new approaches and initiatives.
Key Skills And Competencies
* Excellent understanding of the emotional health and wellbeing needs of children and young people in the local community, informed by current research and evidence bases.
* Experience of working in a trauma‑informed and inclusive way, supporting and responding to young people’s “whole selves”.
* Knowledge and experience of working within a drop‑in model.
Candidate Profile
Committed to social justice and inclusion with excellent knowledge of the complex issues that young people and families face. Able to work on own initiative and bring new ideas. Good understanding of the diversity and complexities of the borough of Newham, and an active participant in community life. Preference for individuals who are representative of the cultures and faiths of Newham and who speak languages common to the local area.
