Job Overview
The Health Board has a clear vision to provide outstanding health care services for all its communities and has established an integrated Cellular Pathology service operating from a brand new department at Glan Clwyd Hospital. The Centre has implemented the Leica Aperio system to develop a digital pathology solution and place the Health Board at the forefront of Cellular Pathology Service delivery in the UK. An integral aspect of this strategy is the potential to establish new alliances with specialist centres within Wales and further afield. We utilise AI technology in our diagnostic practice and have a new rapid, continuous tissue processor, the x120. This is an opportunity to pioneer contemporary solutions that will transform pathology service delivery across a wide footprint, both within and outside Wales. The successful candidate will bring an entrepreneurial and creative style with a commitment to delivering excellent service provision.
Main duties of the job
The post is 10 sessions as agreed with the successful candidate. The appointment is to serve the whole Health Board, with the principal base at Glan Clwyd Hospital. The histopathology service provides comprehensive histopathological support to BCUHB; the cytopathology service may provide non-gynaecological cytopathology to BCUHB if pursued. The appointee will participate in Clinico-Pathological Meetings and teaching, including cancer multidisciplinary teams. Administrative and managerial duties will be undertaken to ensure the smooth running of the Department across all hospitals, in line with WHC (IS)27. The appointee will partake in audit within the department and externally and participate in relevant External Quality Assurance schemes.
