Consultant in Clinical Genetics

Applications are invited for the full-time post of Consultant in Clinical Genetics (Cancer) based at the Wales Genomics Health Centre/Canolfan Iechyd Genomig Cymru in Cardiff but with the requirement to travel to deliver clinics across Wales.
The All Wales Medical Genetics Service (AWMGS) provides clinical genetics services to over 3 million residents of Wales from three bases – Cardiff, Swansea and North Wales – offering mainly outpatient based service. The service provides a comprehensive clinical genetics and laboratory service.
Although this post is full-time, consideration will be given to applicants who require flexible working arrangements. Applicants should either be on the Specialist Register or a Specialist Registrar within six months of their expected CCT date at the time of interview. You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £114,099 – £166,585 per annum. Applicants must ensure they provide the names and contact details of referees covering at least the last three years of their employment/training history in full. In addition, applicants who are currently or have most recently been employed as a substantive Consultant or as a Locum Consultant in post for more than 12 months must also provide the name of their Medical Director as an additional referee.
Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will provide outpatient care (including risk assessment and surveillance) for patients and their families with cancer/cancer predisposition syndromes in South Wales, correspondence with patients and colleagues, participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, input into variant interpretation, teaching and research (where applicable).

Qualifications
* Full GMC/GDC Registration with a licence to practise
* MRCP or MRCPCH or equivalent qualification
* On Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT due within six months of interview date
Experience
* Appropriate training and significant experience in Clinical Cancer Genetics
* Appropriate laboratory experience
Ability
* Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working
* Counselling and communication skills
