Our industrial client is looking for an Environmental Manager to join their growing EHSQ team. This is an exciting and challenging role that would suit an experienced environmental specialist with team leadership skills, expertise in environmental compliance, and a basic understanding of general Health, Safety, and Quality principles.
The Role
* Write, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental policies and procedures
* Arrange environmental testing and liaise with environmental regulators to submit accurate and timely reports
* Oversee waste management: handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, and implementation of waste reduction and recycling initiatives to minimize environmental impact
* Liaising with external contractors and regulatory authorities
* Take ownership of environmental permits
* Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards
* Ensure regular environmental, safety, and quality audits and inspections are carried out to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, qualifications, and standards
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimise environmental performance and safety, as well as driving process innovation and efficiency gains
* Promote a proactive safety culture - encourage and implement new ideas and technologies to enhance safety measures
* Design and deliver effective environmental, health, and safety training programs, and facilitate training sessions on environmental principles and best practice
* Keep up to date with changes in environmental, health, and safety and regulations
* Lead and manage all ISO audits, ensuring that ISO accreditations for environmental, safety, and quality system, remain compliant
* Complete IED/EPR compliance audits
* Monthly reporting, including tracking performance against KPIs
The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience as an Environmental Manager or EHSQ role or similar
* Experience dealing with environmental compliance in an industrial environment, such as manufacturing, heavy industry, waste, or oil & gas
* Recognised Environmental qualification e.g. NEBOSH diploma in Environmental Management or other at equivalent level and/or extensive demonstrable
* Recognised Health and Safety qualification e.g. NEBOSH diploma or industry-specific other at equivalent level
* Experience with ISO audits and accreditations i.e. ISO 45001, 14001, 9001
* Excellent knowledge of hazardous and non-hazardous waste management practices
* Experience conducting environmental and safety inspections, incident investigations, and root cause analysis
* Excellent communication, IT, and report-writing skills - able to influence and negotiate
* Able to work to deadlines and within a budget
* Previous people management experience
