New Directions Education is recruiting a Trainee SEND Teaching Assistant for a specialist secondary SEND school in Fazakerley, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to develop a career in SEND education. The role focuses on supporting pupils to regulate emotions, engage with learning, and develop positive relationships in a structured, supportive environment.
What you’ll be doing:
1. Supporting pupils with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
2. Assisting with behaviour regulation, engagement, and emotional support
3. Working closely with teachers and pastoral teams to support individual strategies
What we’re looking for:
4. A strong interest in supporting young people with SEMH
5. Applicants from behaviour support, youth work, mentoring, care, or similar backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply
6. Calm, resilient, and confident working with challenging behaviour
7. Able to pass an enhanced DBS and provide recent references
