Dueto upcoming maternity leave, we are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Nurseto participate in clinical and research activities within the AcuteMultidisciplinary Imaging and Interventional Centre (AMIIC) based within theJohn Radcliffe hospital. The internationally unique centre includes a hybridunit combining a state-of-the-art worlds first photon-counting Siemensclinical computed tomography (CT) scanner integrated with a cardiaccatheterisation lab / interventional lab.
Therole requires the nurse to work in the interventional suite and recovery areafor our interventional lists which include cardiology, neuroradiology, andneurosurgical cases, as well as providing nursing support to any CT lists. Aswell as the clinical activity there will be the opportunity to take part in agrowing number of research projects that use the AMIIC facilities.
Thesuccessful candidate, whilst being an employee of the University of Oxford,will also be involved in the provision of a highly patient orientated, clinicalservice for the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We requiresomeone who will enjoy working in a friendly, cutting edge environment as partof a multi-disciplinary team of clinicians, radiographers, nurses andphysiologists spanning 'both' University of Oxford and NHS departments. Aflexible approach to weekend and evening work will be required.
Main duties of the job
Act inaccordance with the NMC Code. This will include the carrying out of the higheststandard of individualised patient care and ensuring that all documentation isaccurate and comprehensive.
Participatein the clinical research activities of the centre, performed in thecatheterization laboratory or in other research areas of the centre.
Ensurethat the clinical areas are set up for use and the relevant safety checks arecompleted on a daily basis.
Participatein interventional procedures (after a period of training), including taking onthe role of scrub nurse, and recovery/day case nurse.
Tomonitor stock levels of pharmacy items and consumables and maintain agreedlevels.
Toensure that the custody and registration of controlled drugs is carried out inaccordance with OUH Trust policy. This also includes reporting anydiscrepancies in the handling of controlled drugs immediately and instigatingany necessary investigation.
To beactively involved in promoting good communication styles and systems across themulti-disciplinary team.
To ensuretheir own compliance to OUH Trust clinical policies and procedures as well aspolicies and procedures from the University of Oxford.
Toundertake appropriate activities to update clinical knowledge and skills inconjunction with an annual appraisal, and the Knowledge and Skills Framework

Division of Cardiovascular Medicine
CVM comprises approximately 170 people across arange of staff groups and locations and has a total turnover of approximately £per annum of which external grants amount to around £ on a total grantportfolio of around £45M. ProfessorNeubauer is the Head of the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.
Inthe 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) results the Division, togetherwith colleagues from stroke research, received the highest quality rating ofany cardiovascular medicine return in the country (53% of the Divisions workwas rated in the highest category 4*, defined as 'world-leading and afurther 39% was rated 3* 'internationally excellent).
The moleculargenetics and modelorganismprogrammes are based in laboratories at the Wellcome Centre for Human Geneticsand close links are maintained with the epidemiological work ofthe Clinical Trials ServiceUnit (CTSU) in the adjacent building (both on theChurchill site). CVMs base, together with laboratories for molecular andcellular studies, is housed in the West Wing of the John RadcliffeHospital. Clinical research is also based at the John Radcliffe,currently largely focused around the OxfordCentre for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (OCMR) and Cardiovascular Clinical ResearchFacility (CCRF), with close links to the AcuteMultidisciplinary Imaging and Interventional Centre.
