Milk Education is more than a supply partner — we’re a community for educators. We’re currently recruiting for a Graduate Learning Support Assistant (SEND) to join a specialist SEND school in Darlington on a full-time or part-time basis.
You’ll be joining a supportive and inclusive setting that prioritises wellbeing, independence and personalised learning. The school supports learners from early years through to post-16, creating a diverse and rewarding environment where every day brings new opportunities to make an impact.
This is an ideal opportunity for graduates looking to gain hands-on experience before progressing into careers such as teaching, educational psychology, therapy, or youth support services.
The Role:
As a Graduate SEND Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH, PMLD and moderate learning difficulties.
You will play a key role in helping students access education, develop life skills, and build confidence in a safe, structured environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Supporting pupils one-to-one and in small groups, tailored to individual needs
2. Assisting teachers in adapting lessons to ensure accessibility for all learners
3. Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting emotional wellbeing
4. Supporting communication, sensory and social development
5. Promoting independence and life skills
6. Providing personal care where required
7. Working collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
Requirements / Skills:
8. A degree (2:2 or above) obtained within the last 3 years
9. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
10. A calm, patient and proactive approach
11. Genuine interest in SEND and inclusive education
12. Ability to provide two professional references from the last two years
13. Willingness to complete compliance and CPD training
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals is desirable but not essential.
