About the role
We are looking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydra Assistant Swimming Teacher to join our aquatics team. In this role, you'll support our Swimming Teachers in delivering high-quality lessons to children and adults, helping them develop essential swimming and water safety skills.
This is a fantastic opportunity if you are starting out in your swim teaching career and want to gain experience, with the chance to progress into a fully qualified Level 2 Swim Teacher role.
What you'll be doing
* Assisting Swimming Teachers in preparing and delivering lessons to the required standards.
* Supporting the delivery of lessons for people of all ages and abilities.
* Encouraging swimmers to develop their skills and progress through awards schemes.
* Helping to provide lesson feedback and progress reports under the guidance of the teacher.
* Setting up and maintaining equipment for lessons.
* Promoting a safe, inclusive and supportive environment for all swimmers.
* Carrying out administrative tasks as required and maintaining contact with on-site staff.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone passionate about swimming and teaching, who enjoys working with children and adults in a positive and encouraging way. You should be reliable, flexible, and a team player with good communication skills.
This role is ideal if you want to gain more experience in swim teaching, with opportunities for further development and training.
Skills
Essential:
* ASA/Swim England Level 1 Assistant Swimming Teacher Certificate.
* Experience of working in a leisure environment.
* Good communication skills, able to interact politely and effectively with children, parents and colleagues.
* Ability to work independently (with guidance) and as part of a team.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety in a swimming pool environment.
* Ability to prepare and set up equipment.
* Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
* Desirable:
* NPLQ.
* Experience working in a customer-focused environment.
* Knowledge of ASA standards for swimming teaching.
* Experience assisting with lesson plans or progress documentation.
