Overview
Family Support Worker role at WMJobs. Warwickshire County Council supports children in care to spend time with their birth families and other connected people under supervision, focusing on safe, positive family time that meets the child’s needs. The service works with local multi-disciplinary teams and partners to support families and the child’s welfare. This role involves facilitating regular family time, maintaining safeguarding practices, and contributing to life story work when appropriate.
Responsibilities
* Facilitate family time in a regular and safe environment.
* Understand what family time is and the importance of nurturing relationships with birth families and identity.
* Hold a regular caseload and remain flexible to changing circumstances.
* Apply safeguarding knowledge and take appropriate actions as required.
* Produce detailed reports of interactions and care witnessed; offer support and guidance within the session.
* Transport children to and from their carers between family time sessions.
* Attend family time review meetings and liaise with social workers and other professionals.
* Keep risk assessments up to date in partnership with the line manager.
* Some life story work may be required; knowledge of life story work is beneficial.
Who we are
We are a busy and dynamic team supporting children in care to spend time with their families, ensuring family time is focused and shaped around the child’s needs. We work across Warwickshire and, occasionally, outside borders. We are embedding the Families First teams to support young people in the county, with a locality-based, multi-disciplinary and multi-agency approach and strong partnerships with local services, health, police and education.

Requirements and qualifications
* Knowledge of safeguarding and appropriate actions to take; ability to produce clear, detailed reports.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances; ability to manage a regular caseload."
* Life story work experience is beneficial.
* Fluency in English to speak and provide advice to the public (as per the Fluency Duty).
Working details
Contract types: Warwickshire – Rugby: 1 × 37-hour contract; 1 × 30-hour contract. Warwick – 2 × 37-hour contracts; 1 × 22.5-hour contract. These roles are subject to relevant pre-employment checks, including DBS, and to safeguarding and safeguarding-related policies.
