One such area is the enhancement of their Innovation and Technology Services department. The Team

ITS (Innovation and Technology Services) is the University's IT directorate, responsible for the maintenance and onward development of IT Services that support the University's business needs, and the development and design of innovative new services in support of the University's Digital Plan.

The Applications team perform all elements of IT service management, encompassing all areas of the ITIL service lifecycle, in order to facilitate the development, maintenance and support of the University’s business and learning and teaching applications/systems.


The Role

Working to the University Digital Strategy, the post holder will perform all elements of IT service management for application services including, but not limited to, ITIL practices/processes such as Incident, Request, Problem, Change, Capacity, Availability, Event, Knowledge and Asset management, and will ensure adoption of consistent processes across the organisation.

The role will be a subject matter expert in at least one IT service and perform the role of a service lead. In addition, the role will be expected to lead the development and delivery of at least one ITIL practice/process and act as a champion for best practice.

The role will also be expected to provide expertise in support of projects and changes to the delivery of operational IT in line with the University’s Digital Strategy. Subject matter expertise will be expected in at least one of the following services: Enterprise Applications (e.g. CRM/Web/ERP), Business Applications (e.g. ERP, ITSM), Online and Teaching Applications (e.g. Student Management, VLE, Student Apps).

In line with best practice, the post holder will be responsible for the production of service delivery plans for the maintenance and incremental improvement of existing IT services. The post holder will be responsible for cost optimisation and supplier management for specific services.


Key Requirements

This role will require collaboration and communication with a variety of stakeholders, including Business Analysts, Project Managers, Technical Architects and business system and process owners. Specifically, there will be a requirement to interpret and express user needs between vendors, specialised users and other professional and technical specialists. The post holder therefore will develop excellent working relationships and maintain the high reputation of the department across the University.
