My Granny is 99 and still lives independently. At times you'd believe she is 20 years younger! She is physically fit, healthy and intelligent but has been increasingly suffering from dementia related symptoms. She has memory loss and confusion and we believe she needs some additional support apart from us as her family and the carers that visit daily.
We are looking for a fun, kind and patient person who can interact with and stimulate our Granny. We would like you to enjoy spending time with the elderly as not everyone has the patience for it. Our Granny enjoys getting out of the house when she can, mostly to do a bit of food shopping, nothing extravagant, she likes to feel like she still has some independence. Granny can be determined, she is 99 after all (!) so we'd really love the person to be able to work alongside her needs.
Some activities we'd like you to do include meal prep and ensuring she has eaten her meals, ensuring basic personal hygiene, some light cleaning activities (hoovering, cleaning the kitchen/bathroom), taking her out to hair appointments, playing scrabble with her.
This can be a flexible role and the most important thing for us is finding the right person. Given Granny's needs, we think the role would be approx 25 hours per week spread over 5 days, maybe 6.
The ideal candidate would have a few years of experience, references and live near/in Newtownabbey and have your own transport. If you are interested in finding out more, please reach out and we can chat!
