All about the Role As a Consultant in Public Health, you will report into the Director of Public Health and are a key member of our extended Corporate Leadership Team. You are a key senior leader for public health in Peterborough and are responsible for delivering excellent public health services for Peterborough residents. You will work closely across all the directorates in the council, maximising the opportunities of being a unitary authority. You will be a senior system leader for improving the health and wellbeing of residents, reducing inequalities in health outcomes and protecting local communities in Peterborough. You will provide public health leadership and work closely with the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Health and Wellbeing Board, the North Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Care Partnership and other health partners as well as collaborating closely with all key partners to improve health. All about our Team The consultant will work as part of a public health team and wider system committed to delivering the priorities of Peterborough City Council and the Joint Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Health and Wellbeing and Integrated Care Strategy. On behalf of the local authority, the post-holder working with the Director of Public Health and other members of the team will lead on improving the health and wellbeing of the residents which is underpinned by the statutory duty placed on local government to take such steps as it considers appropriate to improve health of its residents. The post-holder will take responsibility for a strategic objective of the local authority and the Health and Wellbeing Board and act as a change agent to enable delivery of relevant outcome indicators from the public health, NHS and social care outcome frameworks. The post-holder will be expected to work across organisations, be able to influence budgets held by those organisations as well as advocate for change effectively, to improve population and planetary health. They may hold direct managerial responsibility for services and budgets which directly contribute to these objectives, but they will usually also have substantially greater strategic responsibilities across the council and other agencies. All about You Essential Qualifications In line with legislation, inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List or inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists at the point of application. Any public health speciality registrar applicants who are currently on the UK public health training programme and not yet on either the GMC, GDC or UKPHR specialist register must provide verifiable signed documentary evidence that they're within 6 months of gaining entry to a register at the date of interview* Able to both lead teams and to able to contribute effectively in teams led by junior colleagues. Applicants must meet minimum CPD requirements (i.e. be up to date) in accordance with Faculty of Public Health requirements or other recognised body. Able to influence senior members including directors and CEOs. Delivery of successful change management programmes across organizational boundaries.
