The Role
The People Services Manager leads the delivery of efficient, high-quality and proactive people operations across the club. The role focuses on key employee moments that matter, enabling self-service and driving the digitisation of processes wherever possible. Working closely with People Services, People Partnering, Talent, Learning and Safeguarding, the postholder supports delivery of the People Strategy while ensuring compliance, consistency and an exceptional employee experience. The role provides expert guidance on HR processes and collaborates with stakeholders to improve systems, controls and ways of working.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, develop and support People Services Coordinators, managing workload, priorities and service delivery against KPIs.
* Oversee core people administration, cyclical people processes and approvals in line with SOx and Delegation of Authority requirements.
* Ensure accurate and timely headcount reporting in collaboration with Talent, People Services and People Partnering.
* Manage complex queries and escalations, maintaining high standards of accuracy, confidentiality and customer service.
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance employee experience, efficiency and digitisation, including use of automation and AI where appropriate.
* Oversee vetting, DBS, Right to Work and visa processes, ensuring full compliance and effective management of external providers.
* Act as the primary contact for internal and external audits, maintaining robust documentation and controls.
* Provide expert guidance on HR policies and procedures, including family-friendly policies, and support managers with absence, wellbeing and employee relations matters.
* Partner with Reward on benefits administration and cyclical reward activity.
* Contribute to People projects that support delivery of the wider People Strategy.
The Person
* Demonstrable experience in a People Operations or HR Services function, delivering high-quality support and driving continuous improvement.
* Experience managing or leading team members, providing guidance, support and oversight to ensure effective service delivery.
* Strong working knowledge of Right to Work, DBS and visa processes, ensuring compliance, accuracy and timely administration.
* Confident in interpreting and applying HR policies and procedures consistently, providing clear and pragmatic guidance.
* Experience supporting managers with wellbeing, absence, performance, disciplinary and grievance matters.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proactive, collaborative and solution-focused approach.
* Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong focus on accuracy, quality and process integrity.
* Highly organised with strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
* Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering an excellent employee and manager experience.
* Confident user of HRIS systems and Microsoft Office, with a tech-curious outlook and interest in digital ways of working.
