Senior Planner – Civil Engineering (Energy / Infrastructure)Central Belt - Scotland
OverviewWe are working with a leading contractor to recruit a Senior Planner to join their expanding Energy & Infrastructure team. This role will support the delivery of major projects across sectors such as power, utilities, grid upgrades, and wider energy infrastructure.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced planner to play a key role in both pre-construction and live project environments, supporting the successful delivery ofplex, high-value civil engineering schemes within the UK’s evolving energy sector.Key Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and maintain detailed project programmes using Primavera P6 or Asta PowerprojectSupport both tender and delivery stages within energy and infrastructure projects, providing robust planning strategiesWork closely with engineering and construction teams to establish realistic methodologies, sequencing, and programme logicMonitor project progress, identifying risks, delays, and opportunities, and implement mitigation measuresProduce regular planning outputs, including progress reports, critical path analysis, and earned value dataLead programme review meetings with internal teams, clients, and supply chain partnersIntegrate subcontractor and specialist programmes (including utilities and energy packages) into the master programmeProvide programme input formercial processes, including variations, claims, and extension of time submissionsEnsurepliance with planning standards and promote best practice across the project lifecycleRequirementsProven experience as a Planner or Senior Planner within civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to energy or utilities schemesStrong working knowledge of Primavera P6 and/or Asta PowerprojectExperience delivering large-scale projects such as substations, power generation, grid infrastructure, or utility frameworks is highly desirable.Strong understanding of construction sequencing, logistics, and risk withinplex engineering environmentsAbility to interpret technical drawings and specificationsExcellent analytical, organisation, and problem-solving skillsStrongmunication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multidisciplinary teamsRelevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or similar (preferred)DesirableExperience within energy frameworks ( power, transmission & distribution, renewables, or utilities)Knowledge of NEC forms of contract and programme requirementsExperience supporting claims and dispute resolutionMembership of a relevant professional body (APM, ICE, CIOB)What’s on OfferOpportunity to work on strategically important energy infrastructure projectsStrong pipeline of secured and uing work within the energy sectorLong-term career progression within a well-established and growing division
